Its been ages since I last posted anything, no real reason why, just didnt think to.
I did manage to transfer the whole of my Newton-le-Willows website into Joomla, lost a few things but otherwise the whole thing went ok
At first I setup the forums as smf joomlaboard forums, but they just never seemed to work correctly, so after a few days struggling, i decided to plump for a change to phpbb, the change of the forums from Xforum to pnForum then through to Joomlaboard and ending with phpbb had its moment, but eventually 3500+ posts were all working well.
The whole forum system has nearly bit the bullet a few times since i did this transfer, I cannot tell you how many times i thought to just kill the whole system.
Allthough 99% of the forum users play well and honestly seem to enjoy the facility, there have been some who have constantly tried to use the forum as a grandstand for their pesonal views, which even though I have said constantly I didnt want posted on the website, they continued to post.
There is nothing more annoying, than spending many hours working on the site, to then find someone come along and take no notice of your wishes.
The Newton website was originally an outlet for my own history interest, and it very nearly went back to be just for my own posts again, watch this space.
